Letter to prospective buyers

To prospective buyers of 286 Sheridan Road:

Kids love this garden.  I recall the look of excitement and astonishment on many of my son’s friends when they saw it for the first time.  It’s not just basketball or games on the grassy areas; it’s exploration, hide and seek, flashlight tag at night, setting up a tent or teepee in the woods far from the house.

The flow for entertaining is wonderful.  The main level deck is centrally located, so it’s only a few steps away from the living room, kitchen and dining room.  Everyone likes to sit on the wood steps between the deck and the patio, and on the stone steps above and below the patio, and to wander through the garden at some point.  As the sun sets, the warm light from the gate’s copper and mica hanging lantern adds ambience.  From the back, it’s a pleasure to look up at the house with its wood shingles, broad eaves and long banks of windows.

The window seat in the master bedroom is one of the truly special parts of the house.  With wrap-around windows and a cross-breeze, you feel like you’re in the garden, yet it’s very private.  The entire house feels that way, with great privacy, so many windows, and garden views in all directions, but the master bedroom window seat is the best of the best.  It’s a perfect place to read, on your own or to your kids.

When the fog rolls in, it’s fun to stand on the deck or look out the living room windows.  The fog obscures the houses in the distance, so it looks as though you’re deep in the forest.

I hope you will enjoy this special home as much as we have.
